AP Eyes Major Tourism Investments with New Land Allotment Policy.

The Andhra Pradesh government has introduced the Tourism Land Allotment Policy 2024-2029 to attract significant investments in the tourism sector. The policy focuses on efficient land use to develop infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and promote sustainable public-private partnerships (PPPs), a senior official told BusinessLine.

Under the new policy, land allotments will range from 1 acre to 150 acres, depending on the nature of the tourism project. Wayside amenities, multiplexes, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) centers can receive between 1 and 10 acres, while resorts, theme parks, golf courses, and mega tourism parks can be allotted between 10 and 150 acres.

The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) has the authority to approve land allocations beyond these limits for innovative projects that drive economic growth and employment. The government can also amend orders to accommodate 3-star and above hotel chains based on their tourism and employment potential.

The policy allows consortiums of up to three members for large, mega, and ultra-mega tourism projects. Joint ventures and other models are permitted for 5-star and mega tourism projects with SIPB approval, while MSME projects can have consortiums with up to two members. The definition of MSMEs will align with the guidelines set by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.

By facilitating faster land allocation and easing investment processes, Andhra Pradesh aims to unlock its tourism potential, benefit local communities, and strengthen its position as a top tourism destination.
