Asus Tech to set up sales and service centres
Bangalore: PC maker Asus Technology Pvt Ltd would open two exclusive sales and service centres in Bangalore and Chennai and introduce a range of notebook products this quarter, the company said.
Mr Benson C.L. Lin, General Manager, Sales Group, APAC and MEA, said the company would largely focus on providing strong after-sales service as a strategy to increase presence in the Indian consumer notebook market.
Mr Francis Kao, Business Development Manager, Notebook, said the Asus would introduce a high-end 12-inch notebook this quarter that would have a Lamborghini branding.
The company would also introduce a light-weight 12-inch ultra-mobile notebook, he said. The Lamborghini branded model would cost about Rs 2 lakh. The other would cost about Rs 1 lakh, he said.
Apart from these high-end models, the company also plans to launch two mainstream notebooks that would cost about Rs 50,000. Asus would also introduce a 13.3-inch notepad, priced above Rs 50,000, Mr Kao said.
When asked how much is the company willing to invest in India for developing sales and servicing network, Mr Lin said since they have recently entered the market, they do not have a fixed budget.
He said since Asus’ strategy is to grow by developing a strong service network, the company would invest as much as necessary.
Mr Lin said in Taiwan, the company spends two per cent of its revenue on marketing. But since in India the volume is now low, the company has not fixed a budget.
Asus aims to be the third-largest notebook vendor in India in the next three years, he said.
