Avesthagen sign pact with DuBiotech

Bangalore: Avesthagen Ltd said it has tied up with Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park to market and launch new biotechnology products.

Under a framework agreement, the two will integrate technologies based on traditional Indian medicine and genomic research into predictive, preventive and personalised healthcare products, a release here said.

Avesthagen’s founder and CMD, Dr Villoo Morawala-Patell, signed the agreement with Dr Abdulqader Alkhayat, Executive Director of DuBiotech.

The partners will first launch and commercialise BioPercept, an eco-friendly and biodegradable plastic, in the Gulf Cooperation Council region. A conversion plant to process it is to follow within the next two years.

They will explore future opportunities in environment adjusted crops, agri-biotech, bio-actives for the food and beverage industry, a genome project, herb-based projects, among others, the release said.
