Ayurveda centres planned by Birla JV

Kochi: Birla Kerala Vaidyashala, a joint venture of Yash Birla Group and Kerala Vaidyashala, will open Ayurvedic therapy centres in all the districts of Kerala. The project is part of its plan to set up 200 centres across the country.

The B.K. Vaidyashala is discussing with the Kerala Government for setting up ‘medi-spas' at various locations. Preently, it has centres at Cochin Heritage hotel and Kalathil Lake resort, Kochi. These centres offer treatments for lifestyle disorders and rejuvenation packages.

Birla Group has allaocated Rs.5 billion for five years for opening the 200 centres in the country. The centres include own centres, franchisee centres, high end luxury day spas, cruise spas and economy centres.

The BKV will come up with a luxury Ayurvedic backwater project in Alappuzha shortly. It also has plans to open an exclusive factory for manufacturing Ayurvedic medicines in the state. It will shortly set up units at Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Changanasserry, Kozhikkode, Thrissur, Kannur and Kasaragode.
