New Rail Line Ready for Inauguration
In a major development for the state's infrastructure, the 51.38 km long Bairabi-Sairang new railway line has been completed and is now ready for inauguration. Chief Minister Lalduhoma indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to officially open the new line. "The railway line is ready for inauguration. We are waiting for the Prime Minister to open it," he confirmed.
Mizoram's ASEAN Gateway Ambition
Looking ahead, Lalduhoma expressed strong confidence that Mizoram is poised to emerge as a crucial commercial hub and a gateway to ASEAN countries. He highlighted the nearing completion of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project (KMMTTP), emphasizing its transformative potential.
"When the KMMTTP is completed, it will be a commercial link to not only Mizoram but the entire country. Mizoram's gateway will be shifted to the southern side," he explained. Recognizing the significant social and economic impact this project will bring, the Chief Minister has instructed the state chief secretary to form a study team to comprehensively assess its effects.
