Bangla Gov takes up dredging works at Mongla Port channel

Mongla: The government has taken a Tk 550 crore project for dredging of the Mongla Port channel. The long-term project will enable merchandise ships come to the port for loading and unloading.


State Minister for Shipping Maj (Rtd) M Quamrul Islam informed about the project at a meeting with the officers, employees, CBA, Non-CBA and dock workers of the port.


He told the meeting that implementation of the project will make the port more activate so that ships including those carrying fertilizer and food grains can come to the jetty for unloading.


He said steps would also be taken to unload imported motor vehicles at the port.
