Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has officially signed a contract with the Indian Army Air Defence for the manufacture of the Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System (IDDIS). This significant agreement bolsters India's indigenous defense capabilities against evolving aerial threats.
In addition to the IDDIS contract, the public sector undertaking announced it has received a cumulative total of ₹572 crore in additional orders since its last disclosure on April 7, 2025.
The major orders secured by BEL encompass a diverse range of defense and communication systems. These include the IDDIS, Software Defined Radio (SDR), and Data Communication Units (DCU) specifically designed for attack guns. The orders also feature AI-based solutions for naval vessels, simulators, various communication equipment, jammers, as well as essential spares and services.
BEL further confirmed that the integrated drone detection system, likely referring to the IDDIS or a related system, was successfully deployed during the recent "Operation Sindoor." The company highlighted the critical role of the laser-based system in this operation, stating that it was pivotal in neutralizing several low-Radar Cross Section (RCS) drones originating from Pakistan. This operational success underscores the effectiveness of BEL's indigenous counter-drone technology in real-world scenarios.
