"Bharat Forge has been awarded contracts worth ₹300 crore within the unmanned systems sector."
Pune-based Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL) has secured contracts worth about ₹300 crore under the Emergency Procurement–VI (EP-VI) framework for the supply of a range of indigenous unmanned systems to the Indian Army and Navy.
The contracts cover Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms and loitering munitions, including Omega One, Omega Nine, Bayonet and Cleaver. According to the company, the systems have been developed to meet urgent operational requirements across diverse terrains and mission profiles.
One of the platforms, Omega One, was showcased during the Army Day Parade in Jaipur on January 15, where it was displayed onboard an upgraded BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle. Bharat Forge said the inductions highlight its focus on delivering indigenous defence solutions in line with the national Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Commenting on the development, Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, said the twin milestones of winning EP-VI contracts and displaying Omega One at the Army Day Parade reaffirm the company’s commitment to self-reliance in defence manufacturing. “We are proud to equip our Armed Forces with India-specific, electronic warfare-resistant, homegrown unmanned systems,” he said.
The company said its unmanned systems portfolio is evolving rapidly, with increasing integration of advanced autonomy, artificial intelligence and data-driven decision-making across platforms. These capabilities are aimed at enhancing mission endurance, precision, survivability and adaptability in contested and dynamic operational environments.
