BHEL Secures ₹13,300 Crore Order for 1600 MW Thermal Power Project.

State-owned engineering firm BHEL has clinched a significant contract worth Rs. 13,300 crore from the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to establish a 1600 MW thermal power plant in Koderma, Jharkhand. This development aligns with the central government's objective of bolstering the nation's energy security.

According to a statement from the power ministry, DVC has awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package for the Koderma Thermal Power Station (2X800MW) to Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on June 26, 2024. The project is expected to make a substantial impact on the local economy and bring benefits to the community.

Upon completion, this investment will increase DVC's installed thermal generation capacity to 8140 MW by 2030, contributing significantly to the region's power infrastructure and supporting India's energy needs.
