As many as 56 bids were received for the ten packages for which tenders were invited for the Telangana Drinking Water Project second-phase works.

The tenders were invited through e-procurement and they were opened on Thursday. The bids will be finalised soon after the technical and financial scrutiny was done, sources said.

According to sources, several big companies including NCC, Megha Engg, L&T, Kaveri Infra, GVK infrakon and others submitted bids for works worth Rs. 10,000 crore. The works include construction of overhead tanks, sumps and reservoirs.

The State government on Thursday framed rules for the Telangana Domestic and Industrial Water Grid Pipelines (Acquisition of Right of User in Land) Act, 2015. The rules will be applicable to the entire state.

As per the rules, the officer concerned will declare that the right of user in the land for laying the pipelines shall be acquired wherever it is necessary. Once the land is acquired for laying water grid pipelines, the owner of the land shall not construct any building or any other structure, can not construct or excavate any tank, well, reservoir or dam or plant any tree on that land.
