Bihar Secures Over ₹7,600 Crore in Infrastructure Projects Ahead of Polls.

In a significant move ahead of upcoming elections, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) recently gave its green light to two major infrastructure projects for Bihar, with a combined investment of over ₹7,600 crore.

Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the approvals during a media briefing, highlighting the government's focus on enhancing connectivity in the state.

The first and primary project is the construction of a 4-lane greenfield access-controlled Mokama-Munger section, part of the larger Buxar-Bhagalpur High-Speed Corridor. This project, which will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), spans 82.4 kilometers and comes with a capital cost exceeding ₹4,400 crore.

According to a government statement, the corridor will connect key regional cities, including Mokama, Barahiya, Lakhisarai, Jamalpur, Munger, and Bhagalpur.

Minister Vaishnaw stated that the new section will allow vehicles to travel at an average speed of up to 80 kmph, reducing travel time by a full hour. The project is expected to be completed within three years, promising a significant upgrade to the state's road network.

Details of the second project were not immediately made public, but the total investment across both initiatives underscores a major push for development in the poll-bound state.
