"Bihar to Enhance Rural Road Network Ahead of 2025 State Elections"

The Nitish Kumar-led government has announced a significant initiative to enhance Bihar's rural road infrastructure, aiming to construct or upgrade 10,000 kilometers of roads before the 2025 state assembly elections. Ashok Choudhary, Minister for the Rural Works Department (RWD), highlighted that this initiative reflects Kumar's dedication to advancing rural infrastructure.

In addition to the 10,000 kilometers of road improvements, the plan includes the construction of 5,000 kilometers of new roads in newly settled rural areas. This effort is part of the government's broader goal to elevate the quality of life in rural regions and promote more equitable and inclusive development.

"The state government's focus is on enhancing rural living standards to ensure balanced and inclusive growth," Choudhary stated.

Addressing recent issues with bridge collapses across the state, Choudhary noted that some bridges were either out of service or in need of maintenance. The RWD is currently surveying all small bridges in Bihar to assess their condition and identify those requiring repairs, with findings expected by August 15.

Following the collapse of a 182-meter bridge over the Bakra River in Araria district on June 18, a high-level vigilance inquiry has been initiated to investigate the incident and evaluate the quality of construction materials used.
