BPCL to Build Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in Andhra Pradesh.
State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) announced plans to establish a greenfield refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of ₹6,100 crore.
In a filing to the BSE, BPCL said its board approved the commencement of pre-project activities for the facility, which will be located on the East Coast of Andhra Pradesh. These activities include feasibility studies, land identification and acquisition, environmental impact assessments, and engineering designs.
The move aligns with one of the demands raised by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, a key ally of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), sources said.
BPCL is also making strides in renewable energy. The company participated in NTPC's tender to set up 1,200 MW ISTS-connected solar power projects across India. BPCL emerged as the lowest bidder for a 150 MW project, which will be developed over two years at an estimated cost of ₹756.45 crore.
The solar project is expected to generate around 400 million units of clean energy annually, with projected annual revenue of ₹100 crore. This investment underscores BPCL’s commitment to diversifying its energy portfolio and advancing sustainability goals.
