"Railway Minister: No New Projects Approved for Gulbarga Rail Division"
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that no project has been approved for establishing a railway division in Gulbarga district, Karnataka. Vaishnaw’s statement was in response to queries from Congress MP Radhakrishna, who had questioned the lack of progress on the project despite prior sanction and land acquisition by the state government.
Vaishnaw clarified, "No work or project for establishing a railway division at Gulbarga (Kalaburagi) has been sanctioned." He explained that a committee of senior railway officers was formed to evaluate the feasibility of creating three new railway divisions, including Gulbarga, which was announced in the interim railway budget of 2014-15.
The committee reviewed various aspects of railway operations, finances, and administration but concluded that the creation of these new divisions was not justified. As a result, the proposal was not advanced.
