Cabinet Approves Projects Exceeding ₹14,000 Crore.
The Union Cabinet has approved projects worth over ₹14,000 crore, including the Phase-IV expansion of the Delhi Metro and the establishment of new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) across the country.
The Delhi Metro expansion includes the final priority corridor spanning over 26 kilometers, connecting Nithala, Narela, and Kundli through 21 stations. Approved at a cost of ₹6,231 crore, the project will position Delhi Metro among the top five largest metro networks globally. “Tokyo is the largest, followed by London and New York. This approval further strengthens Delhi Metro’s position as one of the world’s largest,” said Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the establishment of 85 new KVs and 28 NVs at a total cost of ₹8,232 crore. Of this, ₹5,872 crore will be allocated for the KVs and ₹2,360 crore for the NVs. The initiative is expected to generate over 6,000 direct employment opportunities and expand access to quality education nationwide.
These decisions highlight the government’s commitment to strengthening urban infrastructure and improving educational facilities across India.
