Cabinet Approves Two New Semiconductor Units Worth ₹3,900 Crore.
The Union Cabinet recently approved two new semiconductor manufacturing units with a combined investment of ₹3,936 crore, a move expected to create employment for around 2,230 skilled professionals.
The projects—Crystal Matrix Ltd and Suchi Semicon—have been cleared under the India Semiconductor Mission. They include the country’s first commercial Mini/Micro-LED display facility based on Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, along with a semiconductor packaging unit. Both facilities will be established in Gujarat.
Announcing the decision, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, said the approvals mark a significant step toward strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
With these additions, the total number of approved projects under ISM has risen to 12, taking the overall investment commitment to approximately ₹1.64 lakh crore—surpassing the earlier target of ₹1.60 lakh crore.
