Carlson Rezidor announces launch of Radisson Red hotel brand in India.

Hospitality group Carlson Rezidor will bring its Radisson Red hotel brand in India, its President, Asia Pacific, Thorsten Kirschke, said recently.

'While we have not decided on specific locations yet, but we see great opportunity for the brand in locations such as Delhi, Mumbai, airport and resort destinations, among others,' he said.

Radisson Red offers a differentiated guest experience, with lower construction and operating costs than traditional upscale hotels due to a multi-functional approach to design and efficient space-planning, Kirschke said, adding that this in turn enables higher return from investor standpoint.

The brand's Lifestyle Elect proposition enables guests to elect the type of stay experience that best reflects their lifestyle. Guests can book event studios, eat at Red Cafe, Oui Bar and the 24-hour Red Deli. To cater to local market needs, Radisson Red hotels in India will have an option of a full service restaurant.

The first Radisson Red hotel was signed in October 2014 in China. Radisson Red Shenyang Hunnan, part of a twin hotel development which includes Radisson Blu Shenyang, is scheduled to open in 2016. Carlson Rezidor expects to have 60 Radisson Red hotels globally by 2020.

The group currently has 74 hotels in operation and 43 more in the pipeline in India. It will look to add 8 hotels this year and sign another 12 properties, Kirschke said.

Globally, it operates brands such as Quorvus Collection, Radisson Blu, Radisson, Radisson Red, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson and Country Inns & Suites By Carlson.
