"CCEA Greenlights ₹50,655 Crore for High-Speed Corridor Projects Across India"
On Friday, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the development of eight major high-speed corridor projects across India, with a combined length of 936 km and a total cost of ₹50,655 crore.
Key projects include a ring road around Ayodhya and Kanpur, a high-speed corridor between Agra and Gwalior, and enhanced connectivity in the North East. The government expects these projects to create approximately 4.42 crore man-days of direct and indirect employment.
Among the notable projects, the 88-km Agra-Gwalior high-speed corridor will be constructed in a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) mode at a capital cost of ₹4,613 crore. Another significant development is the 231-km Kharagpur-Moregram corridor, which will be built under Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) for ₹10,247 crore. The 68-km Ayodhya Ring Road, also under HAM, will cost ₹3,935 crore and aims to alleviate congestion and facilitate pilgrim movement.
The Kanpur Ring Road's 47-km section will be developed using the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model at a cost of ₹3,298 crore, completing a 6-lane national highway ring around Kanpur.
The 121-km Guwahati Ring Road will be developed in three sections under BOT mode, costing ₹5,729 crore. This will improve connectivity on National Highway 27, a key route to the Northeast.
Additionally, the 214-km Tharad-Deesa-Mehsana-Ahmedabad corridor in Gujarat will be built in BOT mode at ₹10,534 crore. This corridor will link major national routes and enhance connectivity for freight vehicles from industrial regions to major ports in Maharashtra, including the newly sanctioned Vadhavan port.
