CDA sets up task force to monitor progress of projects
Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) constituted a task force to monitor the progress of ongoing infrastructure development projects in the federal capital and submit its report to the Chairman CDA on fortnightly basis. This was decided at a high level meeting chaired by Chairman CDA, Tariq Mahmood Khan.
The Chairman was briefed about the on going and new development projects on the occasion. He advised the concerned departments to ensure timely completion of the ongoing projects. 'All new development projects should be initiated with comprehensive planning to ensure that these will benefit the public', he added.
Tariq Mahmood Khan was also briefed about the progress of development work in sector I-14, I-15, I-16, D-12 and E-12. He was informed that full-fledged development work is in progress at Zero Point Interchange and Faisal/Jinnah Avenue Flyover; however, work on Kashmir Highway, Khayaban-e-Iqbal, and extension work on Margallah Avenue, and other projects of important nature will be initiated soon.
The Chairman CDA expressed satisfaction over the pace of work and advised the concerned departments to accelerate the progress on these projects. He said that he will visit sector D-12 along with board members on March 25. He directed the concerned departments for construction of mosque, which will be designed by the Planning Wing, Hill Park and increase the pace of work on installation of electricity, gas and water facilities. He also directed for demarcation of commercial plots in Sector D-12.
The Chairman CDA expressed his satisfaction over the development work in Sector I-14, I-15 and I-16, and directed the engineering wing to ensure the provision of water, electricity and gas on priority basis. He said that Khayaban-e-Iqbal will be constructed from Sector F-12 to G.T Road with three-lanes on each side. Khayaban-e-Iqbal will pass through Sector D-12, E-12, along the base of Margallah Hills and will be connected with G.T Road at Nicholson Monument.
'It will connect Peshawar Road with 11th Avenue, which would provide an easy access to Rawalpindi as well', Chairman CDA said. To cope with the future traffic needs, it is essential to plan more underpasses and flyovers, he urged the engineering wing. The Authority is also planning to construct sewerage treatment plants in various sectors of the capital.
CDA Member Engineering Tahir Shamshad, Member Estate Brigadier (Retd) Asad Munir, Member Environment Mazhar Hussain, Director General Services, Director General Works, Deputy Director General Housing and Planning Development, Director Sector Development, Director Lands, and Senior Director Public Relations attended the meeting.
