Central Government Tightens RFP Norms to Enhance Quality in National Highway Projects.

The Central Government has implemented stricter Request for Proposal (RFP) norms for contractors bidding on national highway projects, aiming to ensure that awarded contracts go to firms with strong technical and financial credentials.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), a government agency responsible for these projects, has issued clarifications to the RFP provisions to bolster contractor qualification standards, enforce compliance during project execution, and improve transparency in financial submissions.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways emphasized that the updated, more stringent clauses will help guarantee that only technically capable and experienced contractors are selected to carry out national highway development, thereby strengthening project quality and accountability.
