"Tata Power’s rooftop solar installations have quintupled annually, hitting a monthly milestone of 25,000."

Tata Power has reported a sharp five-fold year-on-year rise in rooftop solar installations, driven largely by the government’s PM Surya Ghar scheme and an expanded nationwide partner network.

The company is currently installing around 25,000 rooftop solar systems every month, compared with an average of about 5,000 installations per month in the same period last year. Installations have also risen steadily over the past two years, up from roughly 2,000 rooftops per month earlier, according to company officials.

“We are installing on average 25,000 solar rooftops per month. There were 5,000 rooftop solar installations on average per month in the year-ago period. Two years ago, it was around 2,000 per month,” said Kaushik Sanyal, National Head – Group Captive & Enterprise Accounts at Tata Power, in an interaction with businessline.

Sanyal attributed the strong growth in installations to the PM Surya Ghar scheme, alongside Tata Power’s own execution capabilities and its expanding channel partner ecosystem. For its rooftop solar business, the company has appointed channel partners and distributors across the country and currently works with around 650 partners pan-India.

“The huge year-on-year increase in installation is due to the PM Surya Ghar scheme, our efforts and the channel partners pan-India,” he said.
