Civil Aviation Minister Inaugurates New ATC Tower at Indore International Airport.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, inaugurated the new Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower-cum-technical block at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, recently.

During the inauguration, the minister toured the facility, where ATC experts showcased the advanced technology used for tracking and coordinating flights from the new tower.

In addition to the new ATC tower, Kinjarapu announced the installation of a zero-waste plant at the airport, underscoring the commitment to sustainability. The plant is capable of processing approximately 1,000 kilograms of waste, contributing to the airport’s environmental goals.

This marks Kinjarapu's first visit to Indore as Union Minister. He expressed admiration for the city's cleanliness, attributing it to the success of the Swachhata Abhiyan (cleanliness campaign), which he said had been extended to the airport with the new zero-waste initiative. “I arrived in Indore for the first time after becoming Union Minister and saw the cleanest city in India. The city’s development through the cleanliness campaign has been commendable, and now it’s reflected at the airport too,” he said.

The Civil Aviation Ministry has invested Rs 55 crore in upgrading the older ATC tower into the new facility, further enhancing the airport's operational capacity. Kinjarapu also thanked local MP Shankar Lalw for his persistent efforts in pushing for this project.

Looking ahead, the minister outlined plans to enhance Indore's connectivity by establishing direct international flights to destinations like Singapore, Bangkok, and the USA. “Increasing connectivity will boost cargo capacity and local travel. We will work with airlines to make these connections a reality,” he stated.

Furthermore, the minister revealed plans to expand the airport's runway, urging the state government to expedite land acquisition for the project’s smooth implementation.
