CM Revanth Reddy Directs Fast-Tracking of Land Acquisition for Telangana Highway Projects.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to expedite land acquisition and compensation payments for ongoing and upcoming highway infrastructure projects, while stressing a humane and transparent approach in dealing with affected farmers.
At a high-level review meeting held at the Secretariat - attended by NHAI officials and district collectors via video conference - the CM set a deadline of October-end for the completion of all land acquisition and compensation processes. He warned that negligence by district collectors, RDOs, or tahsildars would result in suspension.
Revanth called on the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to immediately approve the Bharat Future City–Amaravati–Machilipatnam 12-lane greenfield highway and to treat both the north and south corridors of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) as a single project. He directed that work on both corridors should begin without delay, with the south corridor alignment cleared for simultaneous construction.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the Bharat Future City-Amaravati-Machilipatnam highway, the CM said it would reduce the travel distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada by 70 km, improve goods and passenger transport, and support the development of a dry port, logistics hub, and industrial park—key to connecting the capitals of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The highway is part of the State Reorganisation Act, he noted.
Revanth also pushed for:
A parallel railway line along the highway
A Bengaluru–Shamshabad Airport–Amaravati rail link
Immediate approvals for the Raviryal–Mannanur elevated corridor on the Hyderabad–Srisailam route, to ease congestion for pilgrims and touristsOn addressing legal hurdles, the CM instructed district collectors to consult the Advocate General within a week regarding pending court cases. He also called for resolution of the National Green Tribunal case on the Hyderabad–Manneguda road.
Forest officials admitted that regulatory violations between 2002 and 2022 had delayed several highway approvals. Revanth directed the Chief Secretary to offer alternative land to the Forest Department and said he is ready to personally meet Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Bhupender Yadav to resolve outstanding issues.
Reaffirming his commitment to infrastructure growth, Revanth said, “Telangana’s highway projects must move forward swiftly. We will ensure both timely development and fair treatment for all stakeholders, especially farmers.”
