CM Stalin Reviews Chennai Metro's Kathipara Viaduct, Calls for Faster Work.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday inspected the ongoing construction of a massive viaduct at Kathipara Junction, a crucial component of the Phase II Chennai Metro Rail project along Corridor 5. The Chief Minister urged authorities to accelerate the work to bring the new transport network into public use swiftly.

Accompanied by state MSME Minister T.M. Anbarasan and senior officials, Chief Minister Stalin was briefed on the project's progress by Metro Rail officials during his visit.

The towering viaduct, part of the line connecting Madhavaram to Sholinganallur, is a significant undertaking. Notably, the pillar currently under construction at Kathipara Junction stands at an impressive 108 feet, making it the tallest under the Chennai Metro Rail Phase II project. Once completed, this viaduct will seamlessly integrate with the existing flyover and other metro corridors at the bustling junction, enhancing the city's overall connectivity.

Beyond the metro infrastructure, the area beneath the flyover is also undergoing transformation into an urban square, designed to include various public amenities. The entire Phase II project is currently projected for completion by the end of 2028.

Chief Minister Stalin highlighted the significance of the location in a post on social media platform X, stating, "The #Kathipara flyover built by Kalaignar (late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi) is a symbol of modern Chennai! I inspected the construction work on the flyover where the first metro line in India is being laid."

He further emphasized his directive to officials, adding, "I told the officials to complete 'this #EngineeringMarvel, which is being built to amaze everyone, on time, and to make the city journey of the people of Chennai a pleasant one as soon as possible.'"
