Commissioning of Hyderabad metro phase-I deferred.

The commissioning of the first phase of 8-km stretch of the L&T Hyderabad metro rail project will be taken up at a later date once this stretch touches the busy Secunderabad junction.

Though it was proposed to be launched on Ugadi (Saturday), a month ago it was decided to take up the phase one operation after it touches the busy junction rather than in the current form, this was stated by Tummala Nageswara Rao, Roads and Buildings Minister of Telangana answering queries raised by the BJP floor leader K. Laxman.

The BJP leader had raised the question wanting to know if the first phase would be launched on Ugadi as was planned earlier.

The Minister said that there was no formal agreement about the launch of the phase one of 8 km of the metro rail project. The concessionaire company L&T, which is executing the 72-km elevated metro project spanning three dense corridors had mentioned that it would commission it once the stretch touches the Secunderabad junction.
