Construction to Begin on Gurugram Metro Phase 1.
Construction for the highly anticipated Gurugram Metro Phase 1 is scheduled to begin by mid-September, with a crucial foundation-excavation machine already on-site.
Officials confirmed the arrival of the specialized drilling machine near the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) office in Sector 44. This location is adjacent to the existing terminating pillars of the Delhi Metro's Yellow Line.
The machine, known as a piling rig, is capable of drilling to depths of up to 180 meters and can complete a single foundation in just 12 hours, significantly accelerating the project timeline.
"The piling rig will start operation once the Bhoomi poojan of the project is carried out by the Haryana government. We expect the work to start in the next 15 to 20 days," an official from the contractor told Hindustan Times.
The formal groundbreaking ceremony is expected to take place later this month, with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh and Union Housing Minister Manohar Lal Khattar likely to be in attendance.
The civil construction contract for the project was recently awarded to a joint venture between Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) and Ranjit Buildcon Limited (RBL). Valued at ₹1,503.63 crore, the contract has a 30-month deadline for completion.
