The state-run Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) along with six private firms have successfully secured a total of seven coal blocks in the 12th round of commercial coal auctions, the Coal Ministry announced on Friday.

The auctions, which were launched on March 27, 2025, and concluded from July 28 to July 31, saw all seven blocks successfully bid on. According to the ministry, three of the blocks are fully explored, while the remaining four are partially explored.

DVC was a prominent winner among the companies that secured the blocks, which are being allocated for commercial mining operations. The auction is part of the government's ongoing efforts to increase domestic coal production and reduce imports.
