Data Patterns Targets ₹2,000-3,000 Crore in Orders Within 18-24 Months.

Chennai-based Data Patterns Ltd is aiming for ₹2,000-3,000 crore in orders over the next 18-24 months, supported by a strong bidding pipeline, according to Chairman and Managing Director S Rangarajan. The company's current order book stands at ₹1,281 crore, including negotiated deals.
Highlighting the company’s core expertise, Rangarajan said, "Our strength lies in radars, electronic warfare, and avionics. With significant development in radar platforms, including airborne radars, we anticipate additional contracts in this space."
He added that Data Patterns has advanced developments in electronic warfare, which are critical for the armed forces and defence organizations.
Leveraging funds raised through QIB (Qualified Institutional Buyers), the company is maturing several large-scale products. The first of these is set to be announced in the next 3-4 months, likely attracting interest from the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy.
However, the company faced a challenging second quarter. Net profit fell 12% to ₹30 crore in Q2FY25, compared to ₹34 crore the previous year. Total revenue declined by 13% to ₹103 crore, impacted by customer deferments in delivery schedules.
Despite slower-than-expected order inflows in the first half, Rangarajan remains optimistic about a recovery in the latter half, emphasizing the company’s commitment to maintaining a growth trajectory with robust revenue and profitability.
Data Patterns collaborates with defence PSUs like Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and Bharat Electronics Ltd, as well as research organizations such as DRDO and ISRO. The company plans to invest ₹200 crore in new technology and product development, building on the ₹124 crore spent on capex over the last five years.
Focusing on fire control radars, X-band radars, smaller UAV radars, and electronic warfare systems, Data Patterns aims to ensure cost competitiveness by developing in-house intellectual property. “Our goal is to deliver complete systems, designed and built entirely in-house, without relying on technology transfers,” Rangarajan said.
