"DCM Shriram Commissions Expanded Caustic Soda Production Facility in Gujarat"
DCM Shriram Ltd has successfully commissioned its Caustic Soda Expansion Project, adding 850 tons per day (TPD) to its chemical complex in Jhagadia, Gujarat, according to a company press release on Saturday. With this addition, the company's total installed capacity in Bharuch district has risen to 2,225 TPD, reinforcing its position as a significant player in the chemical industry.
This new commissioning has made the Bharuch chemical complex "the single largest caustic soda facility in the country," DCM Shriram announced. With this expansion, the company's annual caustic soda capacity across Bharuch and Kota in Rajasthan has reached 1 million metric tons per annum (TPA).
The expansion underscores DCM Shriram's strategic focus on growth and sustainability in the chlor-alkali business segment, which is closely tied to India's GDP growth. A company spokesperson noted that DCM Shriram is now the second-largest caustic soda producer in the country, adding that the company is optimistic about the long-term prospects for the chlor-alkali business.
The release also indicated that DCM Shriram is committed to leveraging economies of scale, enhancing efficiency, and incorporating advanced technology in its operations. Furthermore, the company revealed that it is in the advanced stages of commissioning additional projects for Hydrogen Peroxide and Epichlorohydrin at the same site.
These strategic moves not only strengthen DCM Shriram's position in the chemical industry but also contribute to its role in supporting India's broader industrial growth and sustainability goals.
