Delhi CM Unveils New Names for Three Pitampura Metro Stations in Phase IV Expansion.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently announced the renaming of three metro stations in Pitampura to enhance passenger convenience and better reflect local identities.
The current Pitampura Metro Station on the Red Line, which will become an interchange station after the RK Puram–Janakpuri corridor of the Magenta Line under Phase IV becomes operational, will be renamed Madhuban Chowk Metro Station.
The under-construction North Pitampura station in QU Block will now be known as North Pitampura–Prashant Vihar Metro Station, while the proposed Pitampura North station will be named Haiderpur Village Metro Station. Both stations are part of the RK Puram–Janakpuri corridor, which is expected to open for public use next year.
Addressing the public, CM Gupta highlighted the symbolic importance of the Raj Kalash Yatra, organized in honor of the martyrs of the Rezang La War. She said, “This sacred journey connects the entire nation with the spirit of ‘Nation First’. Our government remains fully committed to the comprehensive development of this area.”
The renaming details were also shared by CM Gupta on X, emphasizing convenience and clarity for metro passengers.
As part of Phase IV expansion, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is constructing approximately 112 kilometres of new metro lines across the capital. Construction is underway on two priority corridors: the RK Ashram Marg–Janakpuri West corridor and the Aerocity–Tughlakabad corridor, also called the new Golden Line. The Majlis Park–Maujpur corridor is nearly complete, while three other approved corridors are in the pre-construction stage.
