Delhivery, a leading integrated logistics provider, has officially inaugurated its largest trucking terminal in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. This state-of-the-art facility will see over 1,600 vehicles undertake daily transit, collectively carrying an impressive 8,000 tonnes of freight.
Spanning a vast land area of 1,200,000 sq ft, the Bhiwandi trucking terminal stands as one of India's largest logistics facilities. It integrates automated hub, sortation, returns, and freight operations, showcasing the capability to handle Delhivery's parcel and part-truckload freight volume simultaneously, according to the company's statement.
Sahil Barua, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Delhivery, stated, "Our expanded Bhiwandi gateway will enable us to increase capacity for Mumbai and the West Zone's large and SME (small & medium enterprises) freight shippers while maintaining world-class service reliability and efficiency. Our investments in this facility's cutting-edge automation systems will enable us to generate improvements in efficiency and speed, setting a new standard for our network and the industry at large."
The facility's advanced automation system, developed and implemented by Falcon Autotech, a warehouse automation company, features 1.8 km of integrated double-deck cross-belt sorters coupled with over 5 km of material conveyance systems. This system is equipped to process over 32,000 shipments, enhancing operational efficiency and speed.
Delhivery's Bhiwandi terminal marks its second facility of this scale, with the first being established in Tauru, Haryana. The company plans to open its third such facility in Bengaluru in 2024.
As of the end of September, Times Internet held a 3.44% stake in Delhivery. Delhivery's shares closed 0.3% higher at Rs. 365.00 on the National Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
