DMRC Commences Construction of New Central Secretariat Metro Station.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has commenced construction work on the Central Secretariat Metro Station as part of the Central Vista Corridor, a key component of the Delhi Metro Phase V(A) expansion project.

The construction launch marks the beginning of work on the extension of the Magenta Line from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg. The project was formally inaugurated in the presence of Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal Khattar, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and DMRC.

Once completed, the Central Secretariat station will become a triple interchange facility, connecting the upcoming Magenta Line extension with the existing Yellow and Violet Lines. The interchange is expected to significantly improve connectivity for commuters travelling to Lutyens’ Delhi and key government offices in the area.

The Central Vista Corridor will cover a distance of 9.913 km and will comprise nine underground stations — Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugeen Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate, War Memorial–High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam and Indraprastha.

DMRC said the corridor will provide improved access to important government offices, judicial institutions, national memorials and convention centres located in central New Delhi. The project is also expected to enhance network efficiency and offer a more seamless travel experience for passengers.

The corridor is part of DMRC’s broader expansion programme aimed at strengthening urban mobility infrastructure and improving public transport connectivity across key administrative, commercial and residential areas of the National Capital Region.
