Mumbai-based Dr. Namjoshi Hospital Pvt Ltd (DNHPL) has secured the top position in bidding for the tender floated by the state-run Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority aimed at privatizing the hospital catering to its employees.
According to officials, Dr. Namjoshi Hospital proposed the highest revenue share of 7.8 percent to revamp the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority Hospital into a 100-bedded multi-specialty facility under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
In comparison, the Mahatma Phule Charitable Trust, the only other bidder in contention, offered a revenue share of 3 percent for the project.
Operating four hospitals across Juhu, Andheri East, Kurla, and Malad, each boasting a capacity of 100 beds under the name Criticare Multispeciality Hospital, Dr. Namjoshi Hospital provides a wide spectrum of medical treatments encompassing various specialties, including general pathology, cardiology, gynaecology, orthopaedics, and trauma care.
This move aligns with the broader trend of privatizing hospitals managed by government entities for their employees under the PPP model, with the Union government-owned ports initiating similar endeavors. Mumbai Port Authority led the way in implementing this strategy.
