Eco-friendly hydrogen bottling plant in Valsad

Mumbai: Atul Ltd, a member of Lalbhai group having interests in textiles and chemicals, has commissioned a new hydrogen bottling plant with a capacity of 20 lakh cubic meter per annum capacity. The hydrogen bottling plant will tap growing demand of hydrogen in Valsad and surrounding region.

The company installed this facility to tap hydrogen, a by-product generated from the existing 18,000 tones per annum caustic plant. The announcement of this eco-friendly initiative was made on the eve of World environment Day 2008. The company has invested Rs. 25 crore to set up the plant.

'It is a strategic step by the company to meet the growing demand for hydrogen in the adjoining industries and for its captive consumption in the future,' said a company release.

As per Atul's estimate, the project will create synergies with its own plans to drive value added products from hydrogenation and chlorination.
