"Electronics Component Scheme: 22 New Proposals Worth ₹41,863 Crore Get Official Nod."
The Centre recently approved 22 proposals worth ₹41,863 crore under the third phase of the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS 3.0), a move expected to boost domestic electronics production valued at ₹2,58,152 crore.
Companies selected in the latest round include BPL, Wipro Hydraulics, Motherson Electronics, Tata Electronics, Samsung Display, Dixon Electronics, Foxconn and ATL Battery Technology, among others.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said the approvals are in addition to 24 applications worth ₹12,704 crore cleared earlier. The newly approved projects are expected to generate 33,791 direct employment opportunities.
According to MeitY, the proposals cover the manufacture of 11 target-segment products with cross-sectoral applications spanning mobile manufacturing, telecom, consumer electronics, strategic electronics, automotive and IT hardware.
These include five bare components—printed circuit boards (PCBs), capacitors, connectors, enclosures and lithium-ion cells; three sub-assemblies—camera modules, display modules and optical transceivers; and three supply-chain items—aluminium extrusion, anode material and copper-clad laminate.
