Engineers India Secures Major Petrochemical Plant Order from Dangote Group.
Engineers India Ltd. (EIL), the public sector engineering and consultancy major, has secured a multi-million-dollar contract from Nigeria’s Dangote Group to develop a large petrochemical complex that will include what is expected to be the world’s largest urea plant. The project is slated for completion over the next three years.
The new complex will significantly expand Dangote Group’s operations, doubling its refining capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day (mbpd). The Group’s urea production capacity will also increase sharply, from 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 12 mtpa. In addition, polypropylene output will rise to 2.4 mtpa, up from the current 8.3 lakh tonnes per annum.
EIL also engineered and executed Dangote Group’s existing integrated refinery and petrochemical complex at the Lekki Free Zone, which includes a 6.5-lakh-barrels-per-day refinery. The facility is among the world’s largest single-train refineries and produces Euro-V grade gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and polypropylene.
