Financial bid for monorail to be opened soon.

The financial bid for selecting the exclusive developer-contractor for the Rs. 5,581-crore elevated mass rapid transit system for Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode will be opened on August 11 in New Delhi.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the general consultant for the project in the two cities, was officially informed on Friday about the decision of the board meeting of the Kerala Monorail Corporation Limited to open the financial bid.

The DMRC had evaluated the technical bid submitted by the consortium led by Bombardier Transportation Holdings USA Inc and had found it 'responsive' as it meets the technical parameters in the Detailed Project Report.

The financial bid will be opened in the presence of KMCL officials in New Delhi on August 11, official sources told The Hindu. Compared to the 51-days taken for evaluating the technical bid, the DMRC is expected to give its report on the financial bid within two weeks.

The DMRC will be using the two-weeks after opening the financial bid on August 11 for tabulation and other works. The report will have to be placed before the KMCL board headed by the Chief Minister.
