In a significant move to strengthen the agricultural value chain in Kalyana Karnataka, Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will inaugurate four farmers’ training and agro-processing centers across Koppal, Raichur, Ballari, and Vijayanagara districts.
These projects, funded through the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) in collaboration with NABARD, aim to boost farmers’ incomes, generate employment, and enhance the entrepreneurial skills of farmer organizations, according to a statement from NABARD.
The inauguration schedule includes:
Wednesday: A farmers training center and fruit processing facility in Methagal village, Koppal, focusing on mango, papaya, and guava products such as juice, pulp, and powder.
Thursday: A pulses processing unit in Jawalgera village, Raichur, producing tur dal and chilla mix from red gram and Bengal gram, alongside a red chilli processing center in Ballari that will manufacture premium chili powder and flakes.
Friday: A groundnut and tamarind processing facility in Vijayanagara, producing peanut butter, salted peanuts, and tamarind pulp.
These initiatives are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing value addition in the agricultural sector while empowering local farmers and rural communities.
