Foundation Stone laid for hostel in Zabul province
Qalat: The construction work of a hostel in Qalat city of Zabul province began with the financial support of Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) at the cost of $0.37 million.
Dilbar Jan Arman, the governor of Zabul inaugurated the hostel. The hostel is being constructed at Sheikh Mati Baba High School which would provide lodging for 250 students.
Gulab Shah Alikhil, deputy governor of Zabul said the hostel is constructed on about one acre land.
He said the hostel will have all necessary attachments and will be completed in six months
Only 40 schools of 190 schools in the province are opened and the students in remote districts do not have access to education.
Abdul Nabi Wadan, education department head in Zabul said the hostel is being constructed for the students who do not have access to education in some districts as the opposition closed their schools.
Wadan said during the current year one hostel was constructed but due to increase in the number of students another hostel was needed.
Haji Asadullah Khan, a tribal elder in Mizan district of the province said opportunities should be sought for education of the children. He said there was no school in Mizani district and if the hostel was constructed many students of the district will be able to get education.
