Four Laning of Walayar - Vadakkancherry section on NH-47 in Kerala : CCI has approved

The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved the project for the development of four laning of 54 kms. long Walayar - Vadakkancherry section on National Highway-47 in Kerala under NHDP Phase II on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis in BOT (Toll) mode of delivery.

The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 785.26 crore under DBFOT pattern. The concession period is 20 years including construction period of 30 months. The project is in the Palakkad District of Kerala.

The main object of the project is to expedite the improvement of infrastructure in the state of Kerala and also reduce the time and cost of travel for traffic plying between Walayar - Vadakkancherry, particularly heavy traffic running between Palakkad, Trissur, Kochi and other parts of Central Kerala to Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. It will also increase the employment potential for the local labourers.
