Foxconn, Stellantis JV set up R&D for auto semiconductors tech in India.
Foxconn-backed SiliconAuto, an automotive technology company, has inaugurated its research and development center in Bengaluru, aimed at advancing semiconductor product design and system-on-chip development specifically for the automotive industry. This joint venture between Stellantis NV and Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) is set to enhance innovation in automotive technology.
“This new center embodies SiliconAuto's commitment to innovation and excellence in the automotive industry,” said Gene Liu, CEO of SiliconAuto. “Our India team is set to drive forward our vision of a smarter and safer future for transportation. Bangalore, with its rich talent pool and thriving tech ecosystem, is the perfect location for our new design center.”
The establishment of this R&D facility underscores SiliconAuto's dedication to India as a key market for talent and technological advancements. The company plans to recruit top engineers and designers to strengthen its workforce and contribute to India's expanding automotive ecosystem.
V Lee, a representative from Foxconn India, highlighted that the R&D center will accelerate the company’s innovative capabilities in developing cutting-edge automotive technologies and solutions, including those for Stellantis.
In addition to the new R&D center, Foxconn is in the process of setting up an electric vehicle manufacturing plant and plans to establish a battery manufacturing unit for electric vehicles in India. The Bengaluru center will focus on developing next-generation semiconductor solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous driving, and connected car technologies.
