Gadkari Announces Rs. 2,100 Crore Southern Bypass Project for Bareilly.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, recently unveiled plans for a 30-km southern bypass aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and improving commuting efficiency in Bareilly city. The project, valued at Rs. 2,100 crore, will begin near Jhumka Chauraha in Dhantia village on National Highway (NH)-530 and end near Invertis University, connecting with NH-30 through a trumpet interchange.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gadkari shared details of the project, stating that the bypass will feature a four-lane divided carriageway with six-lane structures. This route will bypass Bareilly city, offering a seamless link between NH-24 (Moradabad-Bareilly) and NH-530B (Budaun-Bareilly). The construction of grade separators and a four-lane structure is expected to ease traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance road safety in the region.

Aonla MP Neeraj Maurya, a member of the Samajwadi Party, hailed the announcement as a significant relief for Bareilly residents and surrounding areas. “A ring road was much needed to tackle persistent traffic jams in the city,” Maurya said.

Chhatarpal Gangwar, BJP MP from Bareilly, also expressed support for the project, noting that the ring road would benefit travelers between Delhi and Lucknow by bypassing the city. "The project will not only ease travel but will also boost development in Bareilly," Gangwar remarked.

NHAI officials from Bareilly were unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
