GAIL Plans Major ₹1,736 Crore Wind Energy Investment in Maharashtra.

GAIL has announced plans to invest ₹1,736.25 crore in a wind power project in Maharashtra, a move aimed at expanding its renewable energy portfolio and advancing its goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2035.

In a regulatory filing, GAIL stated that its board approved the investment during a meeting held on Friday. The project will involve the development of 178.2 megawatts (MW) of wind power capacity and is expected to be completed within 24 months from the award of the contract.

The new facility will complement GAIL’s existing renewable energy assets, which currently include 117.95 MW of wind power and 27 MW of solar energy projects located across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

This investment underscores GAIL’s commitment to scaling up its clean energy initiatives as India accelerates its transition to sustainable energy sources.
