GAIL Signs MoU with Chhattisgarh for Greenfield Urea Fertiliser Project.

State-run GAIL (India) recently announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chhattisgarh government to develop a greenfield gas-based fertiliser project in the state.

The non-binding MoU was signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, with Chhattisgarh Secretary (Commerce & Industries) Rajat Kumar and GAIL’s Director (Business Development) representing their respective organisations.

Under the agreement, GAIL, a Maharatna company, will conduct detailed techno-economic studies to set up a urea manufacturing plant with an annual capacity of 12.7 lakh tonnes. The proposed facility is planned to be strategically located along GAIL’s Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline (MNJPL) corridor.
