"GAIL’s Srikakulam–Angul project effectively unites India’s core energy regions with its eastern coastal markets."
State-run GAIL (India) Ltd’s Srikakulam–Angul Pipeline (SAPL) is set to play a key role in reshaping India’s energy landscape by linking natural gas supply sources in the eastern and western regions and enhancing the flexibility of the National Gas Grid (NGG).
The pipeline is part of GAIL’s broader strategy to strengthen the NGG and improve the movement of natural gas across the country. Other major pipeline projects under this effort include the Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda Pipeline (MNJPL) and the Gurdaspur–Jammu Pipeline (GJPL).
Spanning 422 km, the SAPL establishes a high-capacity, bi-directional gas corridor running through Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. By connecting several key commercial centres, the pipeline is expected to improve access to natural gas and help unlock industrial growth in the eastern region.
