Gas Pipeline Will Promote Petrochem Projects, Says Forum.

The residents of the district should realise that the gas pipeline projects are a prelude to launching Petroleum, Chemicals, Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) in Dakshina Kannada, Gas Pipeline Virodhi Horata Samiti (GPVHS) convener Krishnaprasad Rai charged recently.

He told reporters that three new gas pipelines would be laid across the district.

Besides the existing MHB Petronet pipeline, HPCL and GAIL were planning to install a pipeline each in the district.

A survey for another pipeline was underway, he claimed and added that a major part of agricultural land would lie unused in the district due to these projects.

Rai said the pipelines would be used to supply raw materials like petroleum and petrochemicals to PCPIR.
