Gateway Rail Freight Ltd. starts ICD operations at Viramgam.
Gateway Rail Freight Ltd. - a subsidiary of Gateway Distriparks Ltd. (GDL) has announced that it has started Inland Container Depot (ICD) operations at Viramgam near Ahmedabad Gujarat from 26th July 2019. The first export train service from Viramgam was flagged off by Divisional Railway Manager, Ahmedabad division Mr. Deepak Jha IRTS. Additional Commissioner Customs Mr. Sushant Kumar and Joint Commissioner Customs Mr. Amit Kumar were also present at the occasion. The first consignment of export containers of Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India Ltd. (HMSI) was cleared under Assistant Commissioner of Customs Mr. Bisht.
On the inaugural occasion, Mr. Deepak Jha, DRM Ahmedabad Western Railway said, "It is a good development for the international trade in Ahmedabad and would go a long way in offering rail/road option for the new industrial estates of Gujarat."
Mr. Sachin Bhanushali, Director and CEO, GatewayRail said, "We are committed to offering a reliable rail transportation service for imports and exports from our Viramgam ICD which would make a fundamental difference in the Intermodal service for Gujarat trade."
Mr. Samvid Gupta, Joint Managing Director of the Company said, "With the addition of this ICD, our Group will be able to offer Intermodal service from its 12 container terminals across India to the Shipping Lines and the international trade. Gateway Rail is a leading private ICD and Intermodal Rail operator with ICDs at Gurugram & Faridabad in Haryana and Ludhiana in Punjab. It operates 30 BLC class trains to provide a daily service between these ICDs and the western ports of Nhava Sheva, Mundra and Pipavav. It also offers optional road transport service from these ICDs to provide an integrated intermodal solution for the international trade in NCR and Punjab and will now offer similar service from the newly inaugurated ICD at Viramgam to the international trade of newly developing industrial belt of Sanand-Mehsana-Bechraji of Ahmedabad.
