Gomal Dam construction: FWO and Turkish company sign contract agreement

Islamabad: The contract agreement for construction of Gomal Zam Dam (Irrigation Component) was signed here on Monday between Frontier Works Organisation and Teksar JV (Turkish Construction Company). According to an ISPR press release work on main dam of the Gomal Zam Dam project, which was awarded to Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) in April this year, has been commenced.

A Chinese contractor Sino Hydro is working with FWO to complete the project as scheduled. The project will not only boost the agricultural development of Pakistan, but also provide employment opportunities in the area. It is second major project in Pakistan of Teksar after successful completion of Chashma Right Bank Canal project.

The dam will irrigate 1,63,100 acres of land in district of Tank and Dera Ismail Khan. The signing ceremony also makes the 60 years of Pakistan Turkish friendship. Engineer-in-Chief Pakistan Army Lieutenant General Shahid Niaz, high officials of Turkish embassy in Pakistan, Director General FWO Major General Javed Iqbal, senior officials of FWO and Teksar JV were present on the occasion.
