"GoodEnough Energy Invests ₹450 Crore in BESS Gigafactory in Jammu and Kashmir"
GoodEnough Energy announced plans on Tuesday to inaugurate a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) gigafactory in Jammu and Kashmir, marking a significant step towards bolstering India's renewable energy infrastructure. The factory, with an initial capacity of 7 gigawatt hours (GWh), is poised to play a pivotal role in the country's transition to sustainable energy solutions.
As part of its long-term vision, the gigafactory is slated to expand to a full-scale capacity of 20 GWh by 2026. The facility aims to create a fully integrated ecosystem by producing advanced BES systems, enabling various industries to mitigate carbon emissions effectively, the company disclosed.
GoodEnough Energy, renowned for its expertise in manufacturing BESS solutions catering to commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors, has committed a substantial investment of over ₹450 crore towards the gigafactory project. The initiative is aligned with India's Net-Zero goal and is poised to benefit industries with high CO2 emissions, including molding industries, automation, mining, hospitals, refineries, malls, and shopping complexes.
The annual storage capacity of 7 GWh is expected to curtail more than 5 million tonnes (MT) of CO2 emissions annually, contributing significantly to India's environmental sustainability efforts. Additionally, the gigafactory is set to generate employment opportunities for over 100 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as vendors and suppliers, fostering economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch, GoodEnough Energy Founder Akash Kaushik underscored the company's commitment to developing indigenous BESS technologies with global competitiveness and advanced features. He emphasized that the revolutionary energy storage systems, proudly Made in Bharat, are poised to empower industries in achieving their green objectives and reducing their carbon footprint.
With plans for capacity expansion, GoodEnough Energy aims to further mitigate 15 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2026, signaling its steadfast commitment to combating climate change and fostering sustainable development.
