Google to Begin Construction of Its Largest Data Centre Outside the US in Andhra Pradesh on April 28.
Google is set to lay the foundation stone for its $15-billion data centre project in Andhra Pradesh on April 28, with the facility coming up in Visakhapatnam.
Touted as the company’s largest AI hub outside the United States, the data centre is being designed to cater to the rapidly growing demand for artificial intelligence computing capacity. The project underscores India’s rising importance in global digital infrastructure and AI ecosystems.
The foundation-laying ceremony will be attended by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Thomas Kurian, Chief Executive Officer of Google Cloud.
The project, being executed by AdaniConneX, will house a 1 gigawatt data centre along with dedicated energy infrastructure. It will also rely on a new subsea gateway and be integrated into Google’s extensive global network of terrestrial and subsea cables, enhancing connectivity and data capacity.
